Would spray painting my guitar's hardware work?

I have an Ibanez RG and it is currently all black but i want some flair. I want to make my guitar have some gold accents (particularly on the bridge, tuning keys, and knobs). Would using gold spray paint work or would it chip off? Or is there some specific type of spray paint that is meant for metal that i should use?
