How can i do emo hair when my hair is short?

Ok well i want emo-ish hair not super crazy emo hair but anyway. im a boy 15 and my bags are about a quater to halfway on my nose. i cant toss my hair to the side too well because it just poofs. i can toss it to the side when i dont wash my hair for a day. also is there anyway to make my hair naturally darker it is medium brown right now.
