Vibram Five-Fingers as Everyday Shoes?

I'm thinking about saving up for a pair of KSO's (they look cool), but I was wondering how reliable they are. How long do they last? Are they guaranteed to be replaced if they rip? Can they be worn day to day as normal shoes? I'm planning on wearing them just like normal shoes....will the work fine in that capacity?
