Why do people think that if they repeatedly press a crosswalk on, it makes it turn faster?

LOL! I know...I've thought the same thing! One press is enough to let it know you're there. It's like people who will call the same person on the phone 4-5 times in a row without leaving a message b/c they neeeed to reach them. If the person is with the gynecologist (or something), they most likely will NOT be answering, yet they'll keep calling! Ah, well...such is life.
