My friend played College Football and gets special treatment?

My roommate is in our schools football team and he receives special treatment such as : a ride where ever he wants from a graduate istant, he also will get tutored if he wants but he usually just gets his work done by someone else. I guess your could say he is the epitome of a coddled athlete. I personally don't mind but i think he will pay for it later on in life. Do all schools treat their star athletes like this???
